Lent, a call to action

Lent provides the opportunity to pray, reflect, and take actions that can challenge injustice in the places within our lives.

As we enter the journey of Lent, help us to remember that it leads us to the hope and promises of Easter. Lent offers a time of discernment where we can see actions towards justice that can be taken. No prayer or action is too small. As Mother Teresa once said: We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop”

Here are a few ways actions can be taken to advance social justice in your community:

  • Check What You Believe

  • Research Social Justice Issues

  • Partner with Local Organizations

  • Participate in Your Community

  • Create Awareness Through Social Media

  • Protest Where Needed

  • Volunteer and Donate

  • Participate Politically

Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong.
