OUT OF ORLANDO, by Barbara Zeman

As I sat here this morning reading out loud the names of the victims, I was moved to tears. Who wouldn’t be? Who were these people? What were their stories? Did they have an inclining that this would happen? Why do we care? In today’s readings I am moved by the circumstances we find ourselves in with Jesus in the gospel. The question again jumps out for me. It’s a question I face everyday in the mirror 'Who am I?'

Our Lady of the May

My life appears before me as if in a haze.
Because I am,
I come from God.
I see miracles everywhere I set my gaze.
Born to the earth through a woman who gave birth.
Divine and human am I.
My feet touch the ground.

You ARE Divine Love

Jesus, my brother,
you who are truly and perfectly human,
you who transcended the path to the Divine,
show me the way into your arms
so that I too may share in the birthright
which you made manifest
through your very willingness
to open completely to love.
In your total surrender
give me the eyes

After the palms have been waved
After the last supper's grown cold
After the dye has been cast
After for 30 pieces he's been sold
After the dice has been rolled for his clothes
After the cross has been carried
After the temple's curtain has split
